Située au cœur de Bayonne, la Médiathèque est un centre culturel emblématique qui a été entièrement rénové et agrandi après trois années de travaux. Cette intervention a permis de redéfinir son rapport à la ville, en créant un bâtiment plus ouvert, plus lumineux, et pensé pour s’adapter aux nouvelles pratiques culturelles et numériques de ses usagers.

Le projet a permis de doubler les surfaces accessibles au public, passant de 1 200 m² à 2 400 m², avec de nouveaux espaces de lecture, des zones d’étude individuelles et collectives, des salons de consultation et des terrasses extérieures accessibles. Avec plus de 400 places de lecture et un fonds documentaire enrichi, le centre s’impose comme un espace contemporain, accueillant et pleinement intégré à la vie culturelle de la ville française.

For this project, Comenza contributed with the installation of glass railings that naturally integrate into the interior architecture of the new media library. The selection of the GlassFit SV-1401 profile, combined with 10.10.4 HST laminated tempered glass with polished edges, meets the need for a transparent and elegant solution that complements the building’s open layout. The SV-1401 is a top-mounted system that allows the profile to be fixed to the upper part of the slab, providing a clean and optimized installation that gives full prominence to the glass. Its minimalist design promotes a continuous and lightweight aesthetic, ideal for spaces where clarity and visual openness are essential to the architectural language.

This configuration enables unobstructed light flow and maintains a visually fluid connection across different levels, enhancing the user experience in reading, study, and circulation areas. Thanks to its discreet form and the purity of glass, the system blends seamlessly into the media library’s architecture, reinforcing the sense of spaciousness central to the project.

In this installation, carried out by Glass Partners Solutions, the system has been precisely integrated and achieves an aesthetic perfectly aligned with the modern character of the building. The result is an intervention that brings clarity, harmony, and a sense of continuity that intuitively connects all spaces.
