From Madrid to the sky: Hotel Montera, with some of the best views of the capital, features Comenza railings

Located on one of Madrid’s most iconic streets, Montera Madrid Hotel represents the perfect blend of tradition and modernity. This neoclassical building, with almost a century of history, has recently been restored to become the city’s first Curio Collection by Hilton hotel. With its historic façade carefully preserved, the hotel invites guests to enjoy an experience that connects past and present, surrounded by the architectural and cultural landmarks that define its setting.

The renovation of Montera Hotel, led by renowned interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán, has successfully captured the authentic spirit of Madrid, incorporating artistic and decorative elements that reflect both the capital’s history and its vibrant contemporary scene.

Systems installed at Montera Hotel

This cutting-edge design has been completed with the installation of our SV-1801 Top profile systems on the hotel rooftop and terraces, and the SV-1701 Top system on the balconies. Both belong to the GlassFit Flow range of glass railing systems. This installation not only ensures guest safety but also provides a minimalist aesthetic that allows visitors to fully enjoy the impressive views of the city. This approach makes Hotel Montera a space that offers not only comfort and luxury, but also an opportunity to experience Madrid’s art and culture from within, providing every guest with a unique experience.

The project stands out for its architecture and interior design, integrating innovative solutions that enhance the guest experience while offering the perfect combination of aesthetics and functionality.

The GlassFit SV-1801 Top system, installed in the hotel’s highest areas, was selected for its specific performance in areas exposed to strong wind gusts or crowds, as well as its ability to provide uninterrupted views, maximizing the sense of spaciousness and connection with the urban surroundings. Its elegant design allows the glass to take centre stage while maintaining a strong and secure structure, particularly important in areas intended for relaxation and leisure, such as the rooftop and terraces.

The guest-room balconies, meanwhile, have been fitted with the GlassFit SV-1701 Top system, a solution that stands out for its top-mounted installation, ease of installation, and ability to integrate harmoniously with the other architectural elements. Both systems comply with the most demanding regulations and ensure guest safety without compromising the elegance that characterizes the hotel.

The choice of Comenza systems reinforces the hotel’s commitment to quality and innovation, creating spaces that not only enhance the surroundings but also provide protection and peace of mind for those who enjoy them.

The GlassFit SV-1701 Top is a top-mounted, strong and lightweight profile designed to optimize installation times. Suitable for both public and private projects, this elegantly designed system complies with building code requirements and stands out for its installation from inside the structure, eliminating the need for auxiliary access equipment, its symmetrical drainage system, compatibility with chemical or mechanical anchors, and the option to integrate LED lighting.

The GlassFit SV-1801 Top top-mounted profile, on the other hand, has been designed for installation in areas subject to large crowds, such as stadiums or transport stations, and in areas exposed to high wind loads, such as rooftops, balconies, or viewing platforms. This system has been developed in accordance with building regulations for public-use and high-occupancy areas. The SV-1801 Top offers excellent wind-load performance, is compatible with chemical anchors, features symmetrical drainage towards either the interior or exterior, and can incorporate LED lighting.

Regulatory compliance at Montera Hotel

All Comenza systems are tested in accordance with the requirements of the Spanish Technical Building Code (CTE) to define the characteristics of their components, including the base or support, glass, anchoring, and handrail. The systems are verified to ensure they pass the required load tests, using the strength verification method with a variable action and applying a partial safety factor of 1.5. This is an essential requirement to ensure the safety and regulatory compliance of a railing system.
