Safety and efficient installation for a complete transformation
On the island of Mallorca, between the Tramuntana mountain range and the Mediterranean Sea, the ME Mallorca by Meliá Hotel enjoys a privileged beachfront location overlooking the Bay of Palma and facing the sunrise. The extensive site, adjacent to the beach, features spacious leisure facilities and areas with mature trees, Mediterranean pines and palm trees, which frame the exceptional views. The rooms and facilities are arranged across several buildings, the largest of which rises to 12 storeys.
Details of the ME Mallorca Hotel renovation
The hotel has undergone a major transformation, embracing a contemporary and attractive image centred on design as a key differentiating factor in an area with a wide range of hotels, many of which have a more dated appearance.
Inside, both the facilities and finishes have been updated, but it is the exterior of the largest building, with its prominent presence, that symbolically embodies the hotel’s transformation and redesign. Its façades have been completely renovated, including finishes, window systems and enclosures.
The worn ceramic finishes dating from the 1970s have been covered with large laminated panels in grey, metallic and wood tones. New double-glazed aluminium window systems with solar control have also been installed. Finally, completing the transformation, the previous white-painted metal railings have been replaced with a tempered glass panel railing system, reinforcing the hotel’s new modern image.

Regulatory compliance for the ME Mallorca Hotel
The railing system selected for the project, Comenza’s GlassFit SV-1301, guarantees maximum safety in use, strictly complying with the specifications required by the Spanish Technical Building Code (CTE) for each type of use and holding Applus+ certification.
The previous railings posed a safety issue for users due to their climbable design. The new system solves this problem through the use of continuous glass panels, firmly supported by carefully designed anodized aluminium profiles.
Developed by the company’s R&D&I department, these profiles allow for quick and convenient installation from inside the building. This helps minimize installation errors and shorten project lead times, two key factors in a transformation of this scale, involving 1,400 metres of railings.
