Design, sustainability and lightness for exceptional views
On the outskirts of the peaceful coastal town of Santa Eulalia del Río, in Ibiza, on a site just a few metres from S’Argamassa Beach —with direct access to it— stands the ME Ibiza by Meliá Hotel. This privileged location is also home to a Roman aqueduct designated as an Asset of Cultural Interest, as well as native vegetation that frames the views of the Mediterranean and enhances the sense of privacy.
The building forms a four-storey T-shaped structure positioned on the site to open out towards the sea and the surrounding landscape, while embracing and protecting the garden and swimming pool areas.
Details of the ME Ibiza by Meliá Hotel project
The hotel has recently undergone an extensive renovation aimed at enhancing its competitiveness within the local tourism market, upgrading it from four to five stars. The award-winning refurbishment project, recognized for its sustainability, was developed by Álvaro Sans Arquitectura Hotelera. The hotel’s floor area was expanded to provide more spacious suites and rooms, with an open-plan design characterized by clean, minimalist lines.
By extending the lifts to the fourth floor to provide access to the rooftop, this area has been transformed into a terrace covering the complex and offering a variety of leisure facilities, including a spa, restaurant and infinity pool, making the most of the spectacular 360° panoramic views from this privileged location.
The final choice for the ME Ibiza by Meliá Hotel
Light-toned finishes in whites and wood have been chosen to enhance the island’s Mediterranean light, allowing the sea and the views to take centre stage and flow into both interior and exterior spaces. To maintain uninterrupted views from the rooms and communal areas, glass railings from Comenza’s GlassFit range have been installed. Their clean-lined design maximizes natural light and visual lightness while ensuring maximum user safety and complying with all load requirements established by the CTE.
On the large rooftop terrace, the GlassFit SV-1301 system was selected. Installed on an anodized aluminium profile with top mounting, the system is set back from the façade line, further reducing its visual presence when viewed from the lower levels. For the projecting slabs and guest-room balconies, the GlassFit SV-1302 system was installed using a side-mounted configuration, with the profile anchored to the outer face of the floor slabs. This minimizes the visual presence of the railing and provides continuous, uninterrupted views of the surroundings.
